Hunting

The vast wilderness to the north is the perfect habitat to grow big Black Bear and Moose, which is why the hunting packages at Onaping Lake Lodge are so popular.

Moose Hunting:

The area surrounding Onaping Lake Lodge has a variety of terrain, which is perfect habitat for Moose to grow big and healthy. Thick bush, swamps, streams, ponds and patches of grass with some being big enough to be called fields is precisely the surroundings needed for successful Moose hunting. There are also many ATV trails and old dirt roads, which give hunters easy access to these areas.

The moose hunt at Onaping Lake Lodge takes place in WMU 39. We are issued 3 adults tags. It’s usually a mix of bull and cow tags. Our adult tags are usually spoken for in advance as non-resident tags are in big demand. Non-residents can still buy a calf tag.

Residents with their own tags for WMU 39 or other WMUs in the area are more than welcome to rent one of our cottages and stay at Onaping Lake Lodge during the hunt.
